Home \ Commissioner Flanagan

Mark Flanagan

I was born and raised in Farmville along with my brothers, Jerry and Scott, and my sister Gayle.  My father, Harold Flanagan tended the family farm just outside of Farmville that has been in our family for generations.  My mother, Alawoise, was the administrator at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Farmville for many years.  Growing up, I attended Farmville First Christian Church, worked on the family farm, and was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 25.

I graduated from Farmville Central and then NC State University where I earned a degree in Civil Engineering.  After a short stint in South Carolina for my first job out of college, I moved back home to Farmville. I later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from East Carolina.

I married Betsy Flanagan in 1999 and we have three sons.  Our oldest sons, Arch and Jack, both graduated from Farmville Central and now continue the family tradition at NC State.  Our youngest son, Sam, is a junior at Farmville Central where he plays soccer, football, and baseball.  We are members of Farmville Presbyterian Church and I am currently an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 25.  I am a Vice President and Operation Manager for Jack A. Farrior, Inc. in Farmville.
