Advisory Boards

Citizens serving on the advisory boards help to guide the town government by shaping and carrying out town policies. Each board has a regular meeting day and time. Meetings are open to the public. If you are interested in applying for any of the boards, please feel free to complete the application and return it back to the Town of Farmville.

Advisory Board Application

The purpose of this commission is to encourage well planned, coordinated tree planting improvements within the town. The commission is to improve the welfare and looks of the town and enhance the visual quality and aesthetic characteristics of the town.

Meetings are typically held on the 3rd Tuesday of January, March, May, September, and November at 10:30 a.m. in the Municipal Building Conference Room.

Current Board Members

A working board comprised of citizens interested in supporting the activities of the annual Farmville Dogwood Festival. This board provides recommendations to the Festival Director concerning the planning and execution of the event. Each Board member is assigned a functional area during the three days of the festival which generally requires a commitment of six-to-ten hours each day of the event.

Meetings are scheduled as needed and are held in the Municipal Building Conference Room.

Current Board Members

To ensure safe, decent, and affordable housing; create opportunities for residents’ self-sufficiency and economic independence; and assure fiscal integrity by all program participants.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of January, April, July and October at 7:00 p.m. at the Housing Authority Administrative Office Building.

Current Board Members

The duties of this board are to acquire and maintain basic information to understand trends, present conditions, and forces at work to cause changes in these conditions. To establish principles and policies for guiding action in the development of the area. Determine whether specific proposed developments conform to the principles and requirements of the comprehensive plan for the growth and improvement of the area. Initiate proposals for amendments of the zoning ordinance and review to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.

Meetings are scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building 2nd floor courtroom.

Current Board Members

The Recreation Commission was installed to assist the Board of Commissioners and the Town Manager in the design and execution of the most appropriate form of recreation for all citizens, regardless of age, or talent, that exceeds what the community has the right to expect. The mission of this commission is to provide recreational activities, both athletic and non-athletic, to all age groups and all citizens thereby improving the quality of life in Farmville while meeting the needs of the community and gaining the maximum involvement of the citizens of Farmville.

Meetings are scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building Conference Room.

Current Board Members

The trustees of this board assist the Board of Commissioners, Town Manager, and Library Director in the development, promotion, and operation of library programs, policies and facilities. The seven trustees are appointed by the Mayor for staggered three year terms.

Meetings are typically scheduled on the 1st Monday of January, April, July and October at 5:00 p.m. in the Elizabeth Davis Room at the Farmville Public Library.
