Alex Joyner
The Mayor and five Board of Commissioners are elected by the citizens of the Town of Farmville in November. The Mayor serves a two-year term while each of the Commissioners serves a four-year term.

I grew up in Lucama, NC a short 25 minutes from Farmville. I was adopted as a newborn by Sandra and Eddie Joyner. My father worked at Spartan Express trucking company while I was a child, so Farmville has always been a part of my life.
After graduating from James B. Hunt High School in Wilson County in 2002, I attended North Carolina State University for a year before changing trajectories and moving to Boston, Massachusetts. During my 17 years living in Boston, I worked in several industries including Marketing at Legal Sea Foods and in the Emergency Room at Tufts Medical Center. While working at Tufts, I went back to school and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science.
After graduating from Boston University, I started work at Avantor, Inc, supporting the pharmaceutical industry as a Project Manager before entering their innovation and technology division as their Digital Lab Product Manager.
In 2022, I moved back to North Carolina with my partner, and we quickly decided to call Farmville home. Since moving, I have become highly involved in activities across our town including being a member of the May Museum, as well as being elected to the Board of the Farmville Community Arts Council. I regularly volunteer with organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Shepherd’s Food Pantry, and the Farmville Community Arts Council.
